NC completed the sweep against LG. It’s been exactly six years since it happened at Jamsil Stadium.
NC won 3-1 against LG in the 2023 KBO League at Jamsil Stadium on 4 June. NC completed the sweep at the same venue and against the same team in exactly six years after sweeping LG in Jamsil from 2-4 June 2017. In terms of dates, it was 2191 days.토토사이트
The three-game winning streak keeps NC in fourth place with 26 wins and 23 losses. LG improved to 32 wins, one draw and 20 losses. They are one game behind first-place SSG.
Starter Lee Jae-hak earned his first win of the season with six innings of two-hit ball, one walk, three strikeouts and one run. Kim Young-gyu pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Kim Si-hoon pitched the ninth for the save.
It was LG’s second three-game sweep in 35 days after suffering a three-game sweep at the hands of KIA from 28-30 April.
LG made a number of changes to its batting order. Park Hae-min (centre fielder), Moon Sung-joo (right fielder), Hong Chang-ki (designated hitter), Austin (first baseman), Moon Bo-kyung (third baseman), Kim Hyun-soo (left fielder), Oh Ji-hwan (shortstop), Heo Do-hwan (catcher) and Shin Min-jae (second baseman) started. Kim Hyun-soo, who has struggled with a 1-for-4 batting average since May, was dropped to the sixth spot. Hong Chang-ki batted third for the first time this season.
In his pregame press briefing, manager Yoon Kyung-yeop said of Kim Hyun-soo’s slump, “I know the answer. He’ll need time.” “Park Hae-min, Moon Sung-joo and Hong Chang-ki are three players who have been hitting well recently. Austin Moon and Bo-Kyung Moon are also in the top of the batting order.”
NC added Park Seok-min and Kim Han-byul to the first team and removed Park Min-woo and Oh Tae-yang from the first team roster. The decision was made to rest Park Min-woo as he continues to nurse a right shoulder sprain. “It won’t take long (for him to return),” said NC coach Kang In-in. On his return, Park started at third base in the sixth spot.
NC took the lead in the second inning. Martin led off with a single to left. Martin swung and stopped at a high changeup from Lee Ji-gang outside, but the ball hit his bat and went over the third baseman’s head. It was a bizarre play.
Kwon Hee-dong and Park Seok-min followed with back-to-back singles up the middle. Park Se-hyuk drew a walk to load the bases, and Kim Joo-won was hit by a pitch from pitcher Lee Ji-gang to put runners on second and third.
Kim stopped mid-swing and the ball hit the bat and went over the third baseman’s head for a single to left. Something similar to Martin’s hit happened again. Both runners came home for a 2-0 lead.
NC added another run in the third. Leadoff hitter Son As-seob drew a walk against Yoo Young-chan, the second pitcher of the game. Son then stole second base on a wild pitch. Seo singled to right to put runners on first and third.
Yoo Young-chan got Park Gun-woo to ground out to first base and was replaced by Ham Deok-ju. Martin made it 3-0 with a single to left off Ham Deok-ju. With runners on first and second, Kwon Hee-dong hit a ball in front of the third baseman, but Moon Bo-kyung caught it, stepped on the third base and threw to first to end the inning.
LG pitcher Ham Deok-ju struck out Park Seok-min to lead off the fourth inning and gave up a single to Park Se-hyuk. He struck out Kim Joo-won again, but looked unwell. Shortstop Oh Ji-hwan and catcher Heo Do-hwan went to the mound, and Ham Deok-ju signed to the bench.
The trainer and pitching coach Kim Kyung-tae went to the mound to talk, and the substitution was made. LG’s PR team said, “Ham Deok-ju was replaced for player protection due to discomfort in the elbow area. He is currently undergoing icing treatment.”
NC starter Lee Jae-hak didn’t face a single hit until the fifth inning. There were no walks or strikeouts. In the fourth inning, Moon Sung-joo’s grounder was thrown out by third baseman Park Seok-min on a throwing error. It was a no-hitter.
LG broke Lee Jae-hak’s no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth when leadoff hitter Heo Do-hwan singled up the middle. Shin Min-jae followed with a wild pitch to load the bases. Shin Min-jae laid down a sensational bunt towards third base, which turned into an infield hit. This put runners on first and third with no outs.
However, with runners on first and third, Park Hae-min’s well-placed shot was a straight hit into the first baseman’s glove. The runners at first and second were doubled off. With runners on second and third, Moon Sung-joo flied out to centre field.
NC got on the board in the top of the seventh when Son Asub singled to right and stole second. It was his second stolen base of the day. Seo Ho-cheol walked and Park Gun-woo drew a walk to load the bases. Martin hit a grounder to the second baseman against Jin Hae-soo, leading to a double play second baseman-first baseman double play. No runs were scored and no one was able to escape. The score remained 3-0.
LG had another chance in the seventh inning. Leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki drew a walk. Austin then walked to put runners on first and second with no outs. NC starter Lee Jae-hak was replaced and left-hander Kim Young-gyu took the mound.
Moon Bo-kyung flied out to left field. Kim Hyun-soo popped up, and catcher Ahn Jung-yeol threw it out, out of the infield. A fastball, not a strike. Both runners advanced one base, putting runners on first and second and third. Kim Hyun-soo grounded out to the second baseman, allowing the runner from third to score and make it 3-1. With runners on second and third, Oh was retired on a three-pitch strikeout.
LG brought in Baek Seung-hyun, who returned from a shoulder injury in the eighth and struck out two to end the inning. It was a successful return to the first team after 55 days.
In the ninth inning, closer Ko Woo-seok made his return to the first team after 35 days. He struck out the first batter, Kim Joo-won, and got Do Tae-hoon to ground out to second base. Son As-seop grounded out to second base to end the inning. His fastball reached 153 kilometres.
In the bottom of the ninth, LG’s leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki drew a walk. He was replaced by pinch-hitter Lee Ju-hyung. Austin struck out swinging on a high curveball. Moon Bo-kyung drew a six-pitch walk on a full count to put runners on first and second. She advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Kim Hyun-soo, who has reached base safely in his last 14 at-bats, walked. Swings and misses at a 133km forkball.
